Homeless Wanderer

Why did this heart

ever leave your side

and venture so far

from home;

Now it’s lost in caverns

that bleed hopeful light

of love that its known,

But just sometimes

as if by divine intervention

it stumbles across

an opening from above

And grace streams through

In hymns chanted

at the break of dawn,

and whispered prayers

as stars gleam

beneath radiant smiles,

So forgive the rough edges

And my woozy eyes

For my heart’s

a homeless wanderer

trying to find its way

Back home.
